Paulo, the logtalk page still calls the deb experimental
I only have swi on this box - what would you like me to look for? The install did not seem to notice that swi was installed; i will add XSB, yapp, binprolog and ciao as time permits

Hi Robert. Nice to hear from you again. I assume that SWI-Prolog is working properly from the command-line? There is a report on the SWI-Prolog mailing list of problems running under Kubuntu 9.04. What's the name of the SWI-Prolog binary? Logtalk tries both "pl" and "swipl". Maybe a different name is being used? On Debian, the Logtalk-Prolog integration scripts are installed (by default) on /usr/bin, which should be in your path by default.
